Discover the Latest Version of the Family Friendly SUV

Fresh off of a significant makeover for the 2017 model year, the 2018 Toyota Highlander offers even more amenities and innovative touches, including a standard suite of safety features that are designed to keep you and your family safe. All in all, the Highlander continues to offer the stylish good looks, versatility and features that stand out in an extremely competitive segment.

Highlander Styling

When you drive a Highlander, you're going to get more than a few envious glances from your fellow motorists in Waynesboro and Crozet. The stand-out silhouette leads to a dramatic grille that's framed by expressive headlights, with each of the six trim levels receiving its own specific grille design. The headlights now feature daytime running lights that draw even more attention to the SUV, while alloy wheels highlight the vehicle's stance.

Inside, there are three rows of seating to accommodate up to eight people. Third-row seats recline, while there are available captain's chairs for the second-row seats -- so comfort isn't reserved just for the front row, unlike some competing SUVs. Five USB ports are available, allowing just about every passenger the opportunity to charge their portable electronics. Since busy families need versatile solutions, cargo storage options are easily adaptable -- and the second- and third-row seats offer a 60/40-split design and fold flat, delivering abundant cargo carrying layouts.

Highlander Performance

You're blessed with three engine options when you choose the Highlander, starting with a standard 2.7-liter four-cylinder gas engine that comes married to a six-speed automatic transmission. The available 3.5-liter V6 gas engine is teamed with an eight-speed automatic and makes 295 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque, which should definitely help pass slower Lake Monticello traffic. The last option is a hybrid that unites the 3.5-liter V6 with a team of electric motors to create 306 total horsepower. The Highlander comes with standard front-wheel drive, though you may want to consider opting for the available all-wheel drive to enjoy more assured driving in inclement weather.

Highlander Features

If you make a habit of driving from Ruckersville to Charlottesville, or vice versa, then you're going to want to make sure that you have amenities that help ease the road time. Fortunately, the Highlander includes such features as remote keyless entry, a 4.2-inch LCD multi-information display, second- and third-row air conditioning vents, a backup camera that projects the SUV's path, and an Entune™ audio system that includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth® streaming and hands-free phone capability.

Highlander Safety

Every Highlander model includes the Toyota Safety Sense™ P (TSS-P) suite of safety features as a standard offering. This system includes Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Automatic High Beams. But that's not nearly all of the standard safety features found in the Highlander; you also receive the Toyota Star Safety System™,  which includes Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Brake Assist, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Traction Control, Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control and Smart Stop Technology®.
