Located just one hour away from Umansky Toyota is the beautiful town of Culpeper, Virginia. Culpeper has undergone several different name changes since it was first incorporated back in 1759. The town was originally established under the name of Fairfax for Thomas Fairfax, 6th Lord Fairfax of Cameron. A ten block plan was drawn up for the town upon its founding which now servers as Culpeper's historic downtown area. This first rendition of the town was surveyed by a young George Washington who was working with Thomas Fairfax. The town received a U.S. Post Office later that same year under the name Culpeper Court House. The difference in the official town name and the postal name lead to confusion resulting into the town being renamed to Culpeper.
